AccuWeather said Friday the arrival of arctic air next week has the potential to bring the season’s first snowstorm or near-miss from the Appalachians to the East Coast.
The schedule for next week’s potential storm would be Tuesday over the Ohio Valley and eastern Great Lakes, Tuesday night and Wednesday over the southern Appalachians and Thursday along the Atlantic Seaboard, AccuWeather forecasters said.
“Whether or not there will be a major snowstorm along the East Coast during the middle of next week depends on where the leading edge of the arctic air stops,” the forecasters said.
The National Weather Service said it could be close.
Meteorologists in their seven-day forecast for Greenville are calling for mostly cloudy conditions Tuesday night, with a chance of rain and a low around 36 degrees.
The high Wednesday is expected to be near 49, they said.
Any white stuff won’t stick around.
The high temperatures starting Thursday will reach the 50s, the meteorologists said.
