Power outage at Carowinds

Carowinds amusement park is temporarily closed because of a power outage.

Carowinds amusement park is temporarily closed because of a power outage.

Park officials said a tree hit a power line outside the park about 9 a.m. Crews are working to prepare the line.

The park will remain closed until power is restored, said spokeswoman Julie Whitted.

The park is posting updates on its status on its Facebook page as well as Twitter account.

Duke power officials said a tree fell on lines from a substation, knocking out power to 64 customers in the area near the N.C.-S.C. border. Duke officials said they hope to have power restored by early afternoon.
