A judge has declared a mistrial Friday afternoon in the Sidney Moorer kidnapping trial in connection with the disappearance of Heather Elvis.
The jury heard four days of testimony by witnesses called by the state. The defense rested without calling anyone to the stand.
The jury got the case late Thursday and returned to the courtroom several times Friday to look further at evidence, but could not reach a verdict.
Moorer is also charged with obstruction of justice, but that trial is set for a later date. His wife, Tammy Moorer, also faces kidnapping charges, but a separate trial for her is also at a later date.
