Be very cautious when purchasing a home or property near any vacant land in Lexington County. We found out the sad way how the county operates.
We live at the intersection of Barr and Rawl roads in Lexington. What once was a beautiful neighborhood is now being invaded with a convenience store and gas station right in the midst of our now-worthless homes.
Did you know that we have people in county offices who just rubber stamp permits to allow an area to be zoned commercial with no inspection of what is around the area? They have no regard for us or our property. It’s all about the almighty dollar; lives don’t matter to them. No one will help us. They just pass the buck and say it’s too late now. County Council is a joke. What is its purpose anyway?
We used to love our home and neighborhood but now are forced to stay here because of our plummeting property values. My next move will be the funeral home — which will probably be sooner than later because it is very dangerous to live this close to a gas station, especially in my case being a cancer survivor.
Lexington County, you have let us all down.
