Walda Wildman raises very troubling issues in her March 6 letter (“Answers needed on baseball stadium funding”), and being a CPA, she knows about such things. She asks critical questions about where the money will come from for basic city needs.

We absolutely must repair our broken sewer system, we need more police cars, we need to maintain our parks and fire stations. But neither the mayor nor any of the other three council members who voted to borrow tens of millions of dollars to build a stadium have told us where the money to do these things will come from.

Mayor Steve Benjamin and councilmen Sam Davis, Cameron Runyan and Brian DeQuincey Newman have an obligation to provide credible answers to these concerns. If they cannot meet that obligation, then they must change their vote on the second reading. To do otherwise would be a serious violation of the trust placed in them by the voters.
