Monday letters: Jesus waiting to comfort all

Larry Knight’s April 17 letter (“Easter brings out the hypocrites”) zaps false religionists. Hypocrites are not new. Jesus of Nazareth had a hypocrite among his disciples, Judas Iscariot. But according to the Bible, those who ultimately reject Christ’s free gift of salvation will end up in hell with the hypocrites.

Judas was close to Jesus physically, yet far from him spiritually. Judas had shallow, external religion. Judas was a mouth Christian, not a heart Christian. He lacked the supernatural heart transplant from Dr. Jesus.

This pure, perfect, supernatural heart imports new desires (Ezekiel 36:26, 2 Corinthians 5:17). The Holy Spirit enters the sinner, exchanging guilt for forgiveness. I was forgiven for all my sins at one time (Colossians 2:13, Hebrews 10:10-12).

Sadly, some are in a life-long war with God. And mouth Christians expect a Bible heaven while refusing the Bible savior (John 3:3-7).

Our pleasure-addicted society needs time-tested, positive answers. Negative attacks, mocking and cold atheism cannot compare with a personal savior’s wonderful peace, joy and abundant life (John 10:10). Christ Jesus, God’s son, is waiting to comfort and receive empty, bored, hurting folks.
