Monday letters: Athletes choose to participate

I agree with coach Dabo Swinney allowing Bible studies and other actives of that sort for student athletes who choose to participate. I don’t understand why Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, is so upset, and I disagree with her comments in the April 16 article, “Christianity forced on football players.”
It’s not like coach Swinney said something offensive to her or what she believes in, but he cares about the football players’ spiritual well-being just as much as their physical well-being. As citizens of the United States of America, we have the right to express our beliefs. That is why our ancestors came here, isn’t it?
The last time I checked, religion means worshiping God or gods and a specific system of belief; so wouldn’t you say that Ms. Gaylor is forcing her religion on others?
