Sunday letters: Harrell mess demands outrage

If ever there was a poster child for the axiom “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts, absolutely,” we’ve got one serving as our speaker of the House. And what arrogance to assume that if he could just get the accusations against him to safe harbor, before his own Ethics Committee, life will continue to be a sunny jaunt down the Appalachian Trail?

If ever there was a poster child for the axiom “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts, absolutely,” we’ve got one serving as our speaker of the House. And what arrogance to assume that if he could just get the accusations against him to safe harbor, before his own Ethics Committee, life will continue to be a sunny jaunt down the Appalachian Trail?

But where is the outrage? Have we become so accustomed to this stuff that we accept it as business as usual? We should not just be embarrassed or disgusted. Because we continue to elect people who behave like this, every citizen of South Carolina should be humiliated and ashamed.
