If it were not so serious it would be laughable that James Breazeale, a lieutenant colonel and assistant staff officer in the Army Reserve, is telling all he would be a better leader of our S.C. National Guard than our current adjutant general, Bob Livingston.

Gen. Livingston, a veteran National Guard officer, has commanded troops from company through brigade levels, commanded a 9,000-strong multinational task force in Afghanistan, served as a general on the staff of the U.S. Central Command and served the people of South Carolina and our National Guard with distinction and integrity as their adjutant general for the last three-plus years.

The adjutant general must possess extensive military experience and superior leadership characteristics commensurate with the awesome responsibilities of the position. Gen. Livingston is the only candidate who meets these standards.

South Carolina cannot risk the future of our outstanding National Guard by placing it in the hands of an unqualified, inexperienced and unproven individual.

Keep our National Guard strong and ready to meet challenges at the national and state levels by re-electing a proven leader, Adjutant General Bob Livingston.
