Thursday letters: Republicans must get act together

I can't blame Democrats for acting like Democrats and coming up with new government programs — such as Obamacare — that do not work. But I do have problems with my party, the Republicans, no longer acting like Republicans. They could have fixed Obamacare, and then we would have something worthwhile.

Traditional Republicans were interested in making business work instead of wishing to control people’s private lives. Today’s Republicans say they want smaller government, but do nothing about the thousands of bills they helped pass that continue to clog up the tax code.

President Eisenhower, a Republican, gave us the Federal Aid To Highways Act in 1956, and it has been a business triumph. So, why is it that today the interstates in any direction from Columbia are in questionable shape? Why does I-95 across Georgia have six beautiful lanes and our I-95 has only four?
