Well another election has come and gone, and I do wonder where were the 90 percent or so of my precinct's voters. Almost every day, you can watch the news and see where people are literally dying for the right we don't always take advantage of. I don't understand this and find it disturbing and worrisome for our future.
The one bright spot from last week’s primaries was the thoughtfulness of the Jimmy John’s on Devine Street in Five Points. I want to offer a sincere and loud thank you to them; they delivered a large tray of their wonderful deli sandwiches out of the blue to our team of poll workers.
Over the years, a few of the candidates have brought us donuts or water and soft drinks and other munchies as a part of their campaign expense. But Jimmy John’s left no note. I had to go to the one in Five Points to find out if it had sent them. It was a very nice surprise for us after a long and hot day.
The sandwiches were greatly appreciated.
