I watched in dismay as U.S. military aircraft entered Iraqi airspace due to concerns about the oil industry and its potential impact on the United States and world economy. This action makes me most concerned about squandering of our American blood and treasure.
Three years ago, oil production in North Dakota was predicted to increase from 300,000 barrels per day to 600,000 by 2016. Production hit 1 million barrels per day in April of this year.
We have energy under our feet and in our airspace and value it less than what is in Iraq, where we risk our blood and treasure. It seems politicians in Washington are more concerned about Baghdad than Bismarck.
