Hats off to Katrina Lorey on her June 29 letter (“Regulate foods that tax dollars buy”). I live in Bishopville, and if you want to see people abuse the food stamp program, come on down.

Every time I’m buying groceries or stop at a convenience store for gas, there is someone buying groceries with EBT cards and then pulling out cash for lottery tickets. I think that if you are on welfare and receive food assistance, you should not be able to spend money on lottery tickets.

When they leave, I watch them get into a $30,000 automobile with eight kids screaming and drive away. Only in America.
