I have been a taxi driver in our fine city for more than 30 years, and now my way of living is being majorly threatened by an unregulated company called Uber. I am strictly regulated by the S.C. Office or Regulatory Services, so much so that it tells me what I can and cannot wear.

I have to attend hospitality classes. My car has to be very strictly inspected by state inspectors and the city and be insured to the hilt. Yet Uber requires none of its drivers to do this. Its drivers also don’t have to have a chauffeur’s license like I do. How is this even legal?

We need something done now. I believe Uber is illegal. If I drove my taxi without meeting state requirements I would be given a ticket and required to stop working.

Uber should be required to cease and desist because it is an unregulated taxi company working without the proper licenses.
