After watching President Obama’s first news conference on the shooting down Malaysian Airline Flight MH17 in Ukraine, I told a co-worker that I was going to keep an eye on my watch to see how long it would be before some of the Republicans told the world that Mr. Obama is to blame for the tragedy. As predicted, less than 24 hours later, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and the voice of reason in the GOP, started the finger-pointing. He even went as far as to call the president a coward.
Soon afterward, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., followed suit. This is just another day at the office for the GOP finger-pointing policy: blaming the president for a lot of the world’s tragedies instead of blaming the ones directly responsible.
Considering the way the GOP is addressing this tragedy, it is worth noting their willingness to praise Russian President Vladmir Putin and say how strong he is, while cursing the president of the United States and accusing him of being a weak leader. This un-American attitude by some of the GOP toward this American president is an indication of the level of hatred they have for him.
