Thursday letters: Reduce nuclear weapons arsenal

Aug. 6 and 9 are reminders of the horror of indiscriminate killing as shown by the use of the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

I ask Sens. Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott and Rep. Joe Wilson to learn from this anniversary by working to keep nuclear weapons from being used again and by negotiating deeper reductions to the nuclear arsenal.

Our country is holding thousands of nuclear weapons. Using these weapons is never justified. The world will only be safe from their threat when there are no nuclear weapons left.
