J. Richard Gosnell's Aug. 4 letter (“Mexico nothing but a parasite”) rues that Mexico is “sucking out our culture, our heritage and our sovereignty.”

I wonder what he considers our heritage and our culture. The United States is a multicultural nation with heritages and cultures from all over the globe. Does he remember that at one time Mexico covered a great portion of California, Texas, New Mexico (note New Mexico) and Arizona? Visits to the southern portions of those states reflect the culture and heritage of Mexico, and that is a part of our culture and heritage.
