Sunday letters: Put more emphasis on cycling safety

I’m an avid cyclist, and I’m concerned about the safety of those of us who love bicycling. I’ve heard many county and city representatives pay lip service to “safe biking,” designated cycling lanes, cycling education programs, etc.

Recently, a portion of North Trenholm Road and Trenholm Extension were repaved … thank you very much. However, the portion that had bike lanes no longer is marked with them. I’ve asked the county ombudsman’s office about it, and have been told that the lanes will “be replaced right away.” So far, nothing. So much for real concern for cycling safety.
