Signs are everywhere about much-needed road improvements, and there is a lot being said and written about the “special one percent sales and use tax” referendum for Lexington County on Tuesday.
Yes, I agree that road and other infrastructure improvements are needed. However, I fail to understand why all residents of Lexington County need to support the cost of pork added to this referendum such as a municipal complex, soccer complex, baseball complex, park, volleyball facility, civic center, community center, recreation/leisure center, town hall renovation and many town sidewalk projects.
These are not county projects; they are town projects and should be a part of the budget of the appropriate towns.
Why is the county responsible for town projects?
