The S.C. Foster Parent Association would like to thank everyone who donated vehicles to its On the Road Again program. This program provides transportation for foster youth who are 18 but not yet 21, actively employed and pursuing a GED or post-high school educational program. Without a vehicle, young people must rely on public transportation to get them to and from work or school. Unfortunately, public transportation is not available in many rural areas.
Sometimes the absence of reliable transportation is the obstacle that prevents children aging out of foster care from succeeding as as they work toward becoming productive citizens. However, with reliable transportation, many beat the odds to reach successful independence.
This program is made possible through generous donations. This year, 39 vehicles were donated, and 28 of these have been donated to our young adults in foster care. Your vehicle donation is tax deductible. Thanks again to our donors. If you have questions about donating your vehicle, please call me at (803) 438-4587 or (803) 420-1151 and visit our website at scfpa.com.
