I have recently found myself looking for work and have quickly begun to understand the frustration people have in job searching these days.
Many companies require online applications; there is no way to contact anyone about your application. The website isn’t always compatible with your computer to upload a resume, and you are timed to fill it out. I spent two and a half hours filling out an application for a part-time job.
I have qualifications for areas other than my job history but have no way to let employers know that, as there is no place to list them. Without a human contact, you don’t know if the company received your application or if anyone even looked at it. So you just keep applying and waiting.
Of the 20 or so applications I have put in, only three have acknowledged receipt, and only two have sent word I wasn’t being considered. I know I am not the only one having this problem. And think of those who do not have access to Internet.
Never miss a local story.
