As a proud South Carolinian, I am pretty disgusted by the sentencing of Rick Quinn.
Mr. Quinn made more than $4 million by using his legislative position to pass bills, but he was only fined $1,000?
This fine is a pitiful amount compared to the corruption that continues to breed in our State House.
The judge suspended the one-year prison sentence, and ordered Quinn to complete 500 hours of community service.
Never miss a local story.
Really? I did more than 500 hours of service in my community last year without getting arrested.
We must elect people with personal and professional integrity. One reason I am running for office is to bring back common decency that is so lacking in our leadership.
The State publishes a cross section of the letters we receive from South Carolinians in order to provide a forum for our community and also to allow our community to get a good look at itself, for good or bad. The letters represent the views of the letter writers, not necessarily of The State.
