Briefs | Obama has different view on gas tax

INDIANAPOLIS — Democrat Barack Obama said Friday a summertime suspension of the federal gasoline tax could cost 6,000 jobs in Indiana.

“This is a plan that would save you pennies a day for the summer months,” Obama said at a news conference. “That is unless gas prices are raised to fill in the gap.”

Obama also accused his Democratic presidential rival Hillary Clinton and Republican John McCain of “reading from the same political playbook” when they endorsed the proposal.

The proposed federal gas tax holiday is a rarity in the battle for the Democratic nomination — a clear-cut policy difference between Obama and Clinton.

• Pa. produces 2 more Clinton delegates

WASHINGTON — With complete results tallied, Sen. Hillary Clinton improved on her win in Pennsylvania's Democratic primary Friday, picking up two more delegates 10 days after voters went to the polls.

The new delegates increased her margin of victory to 12 delegates, giving Clinton a total of 85 in the primary. Sen. Barack Obama won 73 delegates.

Still-unofficial results showed Clinton winning the primary with 54.6 percent of the vote to 45.4 percent for Obama. Clinton leads in superdelegate endorsements, 269-248. But Obama has won more delegates in primaries and conventions.

Overall delegate count: Obama, 1,736.5; Clinton, 1,605.5. It takes 2,025 delegates to claim the Democratic nomination.
