Belk will close its Dutch Square store after the holidays to focus on its three other Midlands department stores.
The closing is a blow to the more than 40-year-old mall on Bush River Road. Belk was Dutch Square’s major anchor tenant, occupying close to 200,000 square feet of space.
The mall still has a Burlington Coat Factory, a movie theater and a Planet Fitness, among smaller shops. However, Dutch Square will be more than half empty after Belk closes, according to commercial real estate statistics.
