Connor Shaw solid in NFL debut with Browns

Connor Shaw made the most of his NFL debut Monday night.
Shaw led two fourth-quarter drives for Cleveland, completing 8-of-9 passes for 123 yards and a 45-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass as time expired. The scoring drive put the Browns in position to win, but a two-point conversion failed and the Washington Redskins won the preseason game 24-23.
Shaw, the winningest quarterback in South Carolina history, is battling veteran Rex Grossman for what is likely a roster spot with the Browns.
They are listed behind quarterbacks Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer. Grossman, who signed with Cleveland last week, did not play on Monday.
Hoyer started the game, completing 2-of-6 passes for 16 yards. Manziel was 7-of-16 for 65 yards and a scoring toss. He was sacked three times.
