Padres, Yankees swap pitchers
— The San Diego Padres acquired right-handed setup man Shawn Kelley from the New York Yankees for right-handed minor leaguer Johnny Barbato. Kelley went 3-6 with four saves and a 4.53 ERA in 59 relief appearances in 2014.
Oilers get Roy
— The Edmonton Oilers acquired center Derek Roy from the Nashville Predators for forward Mark Arcobello. The Oilers also claimed winger Matt Fraser off waivers from the Bruins. In 692 career games, the 31-year-old Roy has 178 goals and 324 assists. ... Minnesota center Mikael Granlund has undergone surgery to repair a broken left wrist, an injury expected to keep him out for a month.
Kraft tops early jumps
— At Oberstdorf, Germany, Stefan Kraft of Austria won the opening event of ski jumping’s Four Hills tour after it was postponed for a day because of bad weather conditions. Kraft soared 136.5 meters for the first-round lead and held his nerve with a jump of 129 in the second.
West Brom fires coach
— At Birmingham, England, Premier side West Bromwich Albion says it has fired coach Alan Irvine after winning one of its past nine games. Rob Kelly will coach Thursday against West Ham. The club hopes to name a permanent successor this weekend.
