Clemson and USC have offered LB Amonte Caban (6-2 210) of Smiths Station, AL and he plans to visit each school this summer. Caban does not have any favorites but is showing strong interest in the two Palmetto State schools.
"I've never been to Clemson but I hear it's a real nice place and that the people are really friendly," Caban said. "My coach said he would take me up there for a visit in early-June. I went a to junior day at South Carolina and I liked it a lot. They have really nice facilities and a nice football stadium. I loved the campus and got to see the Horseshoe. What I really liked is the way they work together and how the coaches do things. I'll visit again this summer."
Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables has spoken with Caban about his program.
"He just told me how well he thinks I would fit in up there and about how they do things," Caban said. "He told me he thinks I'm explosive and he likes how I get off the ball."
From USC, it is Kirk Botkin leaving an impression on Caban. "I really like him a lot," he said. "He is a high-character guy."
Caban's other offers include Mississippi State, Kentucky, Louisville, Southern Miss and Cincinnati with interest from Alabama, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Florida and Purdue.
As a junior he totaled 140 tackles, 70 solos, three sacks, 11 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.
