Tigers' baseball class largely together after draft

Clemson likely to lose two of their signees.

Baseball drafts of the past have ripped apart Clemson's recruiting classes. And while the Tigers stand to lose their two highest regarded signees, the majority of the class will enroll in school this summer.

SS Michael Chavis and RHP Austin DeCarr were drafted in the first and third rounds respectively, Chavis by the Red Sox and DeCarr by the Yankees. Both are expected to sign.

Chavis, who is from Marietta, GA attended the draft proceedings in New Jersey. “Watching it go by-whether it was the first pick or anything where I didn’t expect myself to go-I was nervous from when I woke up this morning,” Chavis told reporters Thursday. “This is a lifelong dream of mine.”

DeCarr is from Foxboro, MA and issued the following statement on Twitter after his selection: “Thank you to everyone who has supported me and helped me along the way!! New York Yankees are a first class organization.”

No other Clemson recruits were drafted.
