Clemson picked up commitment No. 3 for the 2011 class Thursday.
DB Brandon Ellerbe (6-0 200) of Wadesboro, NC made his pledge just two days after receiving his official offer. Ellerbe had visited Clemson in June and has had the Tigers out front since then.
"He’s a super kid and student," Anson County coach Luke Hyatt said of Ellerbe. "He's one of the most athletic players on the team. I can’t say he’s a safety or a corner. We put him anywhere on the field and he’ll make a difference for us. He’s a weight room warrior. He’s real aggressive. Whe the ball is around him, he has a knack for making plays."
Clemson is Ellerbe's only offer but he was also drawing interest from Duke and Virginia. But once he got the Clemson offer, Ellerbe's mind was made up.
"He’s a Clemson fan for one," Hyatt said. "He made an unofficial visit in June and fell in love with the place. He really liked the coaching staff. They were the first one in and that carried a lot of weight."
Hyatt said Ellerbe had about 30 tackles last season and four interceptions.
