What Clemson coaches will be watching in today’s spring game:
Ryan Norton replaces center Dalton Freeman, but as many as 10 are in the mix for spots in the rotation, including tackle Isaiah Battle and guard Kalon Davis.
In identifying the next best alternative to Sammy Watkins, the most logical are Charone Peake, Adam Humphries and Martavis Bryant. The stock of speedy Germone Hopper is rising.
Coaches figured tight end would be a work in progress with Jay Jay McCullough and Stanton Seckinger, but much of the buzz has been about freshman Jordan Leggett.
The depth and talent along the line and at linebacker (watch LB Kellen Jones and DE Vic Beasley) should afford Brent Venables the time he’ll need to rebuild the secondary.
Tajh Boyd won’t play much, so Cole Stoudt and Chad Kelly will see plenty of action. If anything happens to Boyd, next season will be on Stoudt’s shoulders.
