Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant has spoken with a few former Tigers signal callers since being named the starter on Saturday.
Bryant spoke with the media Tuesday afternoon and said he has talked with former star quarterbacks Woody Dantzler and Tajh Boyd. He was planning to reach out to Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson Tuesday night.
“(Woody) has been in my ear all spring, summer, leading up to camp. I was actually going to hit Deshaun up after practice and catch back up. I’ve seen Tajh today,” Bryant said, adding that he received some solid advice from Boyd. “Be you. Don’t try to be like (Boyd) or Deshaun or anybody else. Just be Kelly Bryant. Be your own guy.”
Bryant added that he really appreciates Boyd reaching out and offering advice.
“That means a lot. Just the type of person that he is,” Bryant said. “Just having him say that, come out and say that, that’s special because I know he was in the same position as me trying to be the starter in the position battle when he first got here. He’s been dropping some wisdom on me here and there.”
