The Atlanta Falcons were in Columbia on Friday to visit with South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, according to profootballtalk.com.
Clowney is expected to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft on May 8 -- a pick currently held by the Houston Texans.
But there has been a lot of recent speculation that the Falcons, who have the No. 6 pick, might be interested in trading up in order to pick Clowney.
A league source told the website that the Falcons were planning to give Clowney a biomechanical assessment test and an aptitude test. There will be no on-field drills.
According to ajc.com, that assessment with the Falcons is what Clowney’s agent, Bus Cook, was talking about when he said Clowney “may do one more thing, for one team, maybe a five-minute workout.”
Clowney was in Atlanta for a visit on Thursday.
