South Carolina has beaten Clemson for five straight seasons, but that did not keep the folks who run the official Clemson football twitter account from taking a jab at the Gamecocks in a tweet over the weekend.
Under a graphic showing the score from the Orange Bowl: Clemson 40, Ohio State 35, the tweet read: "Six months ago, #Clemson became the only school in the state of South Carolina to win a BCS game."
South Carolina didn’t qualify for a BCS bowl, but the Gamecocks beat Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl.
The folks of CollegeFootballTalk.com wrote of the tweet: "It was a nice attempt at a backhanded shot, but Clemson should worry more about beating South Carolina on the field than tweaking them off of it."
Never miss a local story.
Clemson last beat USC in football in 2008, or more than five and a half years ago.
