1. Florida State Seminoles

2. Alabama Crimson Tide

3. Oklahoma Sooners

4. Oregon Ducks

5. Ohio State Buckeyes

6. Auburn Tigers

7. UCLA Bruins

8. Baylor Bears

9. Georgia Bulldogs

10. South Carolina Gamecocks

PHIL STEELE

South Carolina: When the preseason poll debuts, the Gamecocks will have been ranked for 65 consecutive weeks, the longest streak in USC history. USC’s last conference title, however, came in the ACC in 1969. Steve Spurrier has had zero losing seasons in nine years (eight bowls) at USC.

THE SPORTING NEWS

South Carolina: Who in their right mind would think South Carolina, a habitually underachieving (team) before Steve Spurrier’s arrival, would get bored with 11-win seasons? The Gamecocks could easily make it four in a row, especially if QB Dylan Thompson becomes the one thing Spurrier hasn’t had at USC: a true thrower of a quarterback.

ATHLON SPORTS

South Carolina: South Carolina is coming off the best three-year stretch in school history, winning 33 games and recording three top-10 finishes in the final AP poll. With the Gamecocks recruiting at a high level, combined with Spurrier’s coaching, this team will remain a factor in the SEC East title picture.
