I knew it from reading the notes and media guide, but it really struck me how fortunate South Carolina can be if it has a great season in 2013. That could bleed into having an equally successful, if not better, season in 2014.
Why? USC loses five seniors, and although Connor Shaw is one of them, the Gamecocks have the players in place to handle that loss and the others.
I stopped myself from thinking ahead too much, though, because of the sizable junior class. Between redshirt juniors, true juniors and redshirt sophomores, the Gamecocks have a staggering 51 roster members. Why is that important?
Some of them could hear from the NFL after this year, just as the seniors will.
Jadeveon Clowney, obviously, leads the list, but there are several others who could see scouts come around with a great year. Busta Anderson, Brandon Shell, Corey Robinson, Vic Hampton, Kelcy Quarles all of them plus others could catch the eyes of the scouts that will surely come around to see Clowney.
Not saying it will happen, and much depends on how the individual seasons go. But it is something to think about as the season progresses.
