Connor Shaw has been anointed, and now Mike Davis has. Most of the linemen seem to be set on each side of the ball, and you know that Victor Hampton will start at one corner spot.
It’s that time of camp, where starting positions are solidifying and are at least able to be educated-guessed by we chumps in the media, if position coaches are squeamish about naming starters now. The Gamecocks, despite a few bang-ups in camp, are pretty much following the same trend they were thought to be following in the preseason.
The two spots that need answers are linebacker, where Cedrick Cooper is looking less and less likely to recover from a dislocated elbow in time, and place-kicker. Steve Spurrier said he hoped to have a definite answer for kicker this time this week, and perhaps Joe Robinson has found an answer.
Despite the injuries, nobody has gone down with what could be a season-ender (Mike Matulis’ shoulder injury may be classified that, but even he said that he wouldn’t mind redshirting). There shouldn’t be any massive changes from what the preseason depth chart said (see that below) once the new one is released on Sunday.
