South Carolina wide receiver Shaq Roland did not make the trip to UCF with the No. 12 Gamecocks due to a violation of athletic department policy.
Roland, a sophomore from Lexington, was listed as a starter on the pre-game depth chart earlier this week. He has eight catches for 161 yards and one touchdown this year.
USC sports information said that the news was announced to the team late in the week.
Steve Spurrier did not have much to say about it after the game, except to note that it wasn’t a drug-related suspension.
“Ask the athletic director,” Spurrier said. “He’s got a university policy deal that he’s dealing with right now.”
