Victor Hampton’s sterling performance against Mississippi State didn’t go unnoticed.
Hampton was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday by the league office, giving No. 13 South Carolina a haul of four weekly honorees in a two-week span. The Gamecocks had three winners last week.
Hampton had a team-high eight tackles (six solo) in USC’s 34-16 win over Mississippi State on Saturday, with three pass breakups, a forced fumble and a recovered fumble.
