South Carolina’s game hosting Florida on Nov. 16 was selected as one of two games for CBS’ six-day exemption, the SEC announced on Monday. The game will either kick off at 3:30 p.m., 7 p.m. or 7:45 p.m., with a final selection no later than Sunday afternoon.
USC (7-2, 5-2 SEC) is coming off a 34-16 win over Mississippi State and rose one spot to No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday. The Gators (4-4, 3-3) lost 23-20 to Georgia on Saturday. The Gamecocks are idle this week while Florida hosts Vanderbilt.
Florida leads the overall series 24-6-3 but has lost two of the past three games. The Gators won 44-11 in Gainesville last year.
The game will help determine the SEC East championship. USC has to win to remain in contention, but will also be keeping an eye on Georgia’s game at Auburn that day. If the Bulldogs win, the Gamecocks would have to hope for Kentucky to beat Georgia in order to remain in contention.
Never miss a local story.
Missouri, the other team fighting for the East crown, is idle on Nov. 16.
