The season was seemingly saved at Florida, not in terms of reaching the lofty goals of the preseason but at least revealing a light that could promise a decent year in the grand scheme. The Gamecocks could finish with eight wins, which isn’t what they’re used to after the last three years but overall, stands as one of the best seasons in program history.
Hard to see a letdown Saturday after such a big win, but USC will give up a couple of big plays. Noon kick, crowd won’t be very large or enthusiastic, etc. The Gamecocks may struggle for a series or two but they’ll be able to turn it loose in the second half.
Saturday is a chance to dress every senior and get as many of them in the game as possible. Try Connor Mitch or Perry Orth at quarterback again. See if Shamier Jeffery can get a touchdown. Get Mike Davis and Dylan Thompson in shouting distance of a couple of school records.
Hope the weather’s warm.
