LEXINGTON, Ky. | Kentucky quarterback Ryan Mossakowski is transferring.
The redshirt freshman from Frisco, Texas was expected to battle Morgan Newton for the starting job in spring drills. He plans to finish the semester with the Wildcats before moving on to another school.
The 6-foot-4, 224-pound Mossakowski came to Kentucky as one of the school's top prospects since Tim Couch. He threw for over 7,400 yards during his career at Centennial High School but surgery to repair a torn labrum led him to being redshirted in 2009.
He entered camp last summer in a three-way fight for the starting job but ended up the third stringer behind Newton and Mike Hartline. Mossakowski saw action in three games in 2010 but did not throw a pass.
