When the nationally ranked South Carolina Gamecocks kick off their season against Texas A&M on August 28, Hargray Communications cable customers will have front row seats for the action.
Hargray and the SEC Network, which will be airing the game as part of its inaugural season opening slate, are nearing an agreement, according to a news release from the company.
"It doesn't get much bigger than the SEC when it comes to college football in this part of the country, and we are thrilled at the prospect of bringing the SEC Network to our customers," said Gerrit Albert, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Hargray. "While negotiations are not yet complete, there is every indication that we will be adding the network in August."
The SEC Network and its accompanying digital platform will air more than 1,000 live events in its first year, including at least 45 exclusive SEC football games, more than 100 men's basketball games, 60 women's basketball games, 75 baseball games, and events across all of the SEC's 21 sports.
"This addition to our line-up further strengthens our high definition offerings for sports fans in the area," Albert said.
