South Carolina moved up in the weekly baseball rankings after a series win over Tennessee.
The Gamecocks (23-9) rose a spot to No. 10 in the new Baseball America Top 25. USC was 3-1 was week, beating College of Charleston in midweek action before topping the Vols in two out of three games.
The Gamecocks play two midweek games before hosting Mississippi State this weekend.
Also Monday, left-hander Jordan Montgomery was named SEC Freshman of the Week. Montgomery on Saturday worked a career-high eight innings and limited Tennessee to one run on three hits on the way to a 2-1 South Carolina victory over the Volunteers.
Montgomery did not walk a batter and his seven strikeouts also were a career-high. For the season, Montgomery is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA in seven games.
For the first time this season, Florida is not No. 1. The Gators (25-7) lost their second straight series, falling this weekend to LSU.
Florida State won its eighth consecutive series of the year, sweeping Georgia Tech to earn the No. 1 spot.
