The NCAA issues its baseball tournament bids today, and the suspense over South Carolina’s chances of earning a top-eight national seed is gone.

As the conference tournaments progressed, the Gamecocks (42-16) slipped to No. 13 in the official RPI rankings . That is likely to leave them on the outside looking in for a national seed when the 64-team field is announced.

The Gamecocks are one of the 16 regional host spots, as was announced Sunday night.

Florida (40-21) is a certainty to be a national seed as the regular-season SEC champions with the No. 2 RPI. LSU (44-14), which finished third in the regular season, now has an RPI in the Top 10, and won the conference tournament championship game, looks to have locked up a second national seed out of the conference.

That leaves USC and Ole Miss (41-18) out of the national-seed picture, especially with TCU (42-15) winning the Big 12 championship game.

Here are Perfect Game’s Kendall Rogers’ predictions for the Columbia regional :

1. South Carolina; 2. Maryland; 3. College of Charleston; and 4. Georgia Southern.

Rogers projects the Gamecocks to be paired with the Florida State regional. View his full projected field of 64 here .

Baseball America’s Aaron Fitt also believes the Gamecocks will be matched up against the Seminoles’ regional.

Fitt sees the Columbia regional shaping up as 1. South Carolina; 2. Georgia Tech; 3. Kennesaw State; and 4. Campbell.
