USC is renewing its traditional Tigerburn pep rally, held during the week before the annual football game with Clemson.
USC and Clemson held alternate celebrations last year as a result of the N.C. beach house fire that killed seven students -- six from USC and one from Clemson.
It wasn't known Thursday whether Clemson would resume its annual Big Thursday event in which a mock funeral is held after Cocky, the USC mascot, is burned.
According to USC, Tigerburn will begin at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the gravel lot at Greene and Gadsden streets, near the Colonial Life Arena.
The event, free and open to the public, will feature Cocky and the Gamecock cheerleaders, the marching band, the burning of the tiger and more.
This year's nearly 20-foot tiger was designed and built by a team of students under the direction of Dr. Abdel Bayoumi, professor of mechanical engineering.
