South Carolina defensive tackle Travian Robertson practiced Thursday and will play Saturday in the SEC championship game, assistant head coach for defense Ellis Johnson said.
The State reported Thursday afternoon that Robertson was expected to miss practice due to a health concern with his father in North Carolina. Robertson was not available for comment following Thursday’s practice.
Robertson is a linchpin for South Carolina’s imposing front four.
South Carolina leads the SEC and is fifth in the nation in rushing defense, allowing 93.2 yards per game, and Robertson is a big reason why. The 6-foot-4, 293-pounder has 36 tackles this season, including 10 for loss and four sacks. He also has two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups.
