Screenshots from EA Sports' upcoming NCAA Football '12 video game include a new look for the South Carolina football team.
The jerseys are a more simple design than what the team has worn since switching to Under Armour gear in 2007.
That backs up what one company designer talked about last fall when he said the new uniforms for the 2011 season would be "a less-is-more look."
But company officials said this week that the Gamecock jerseys in the EA Sports video game are not the finished product.
"Our team does work closely with EA Sports so the designs you are seeing for the game are based loosely off of the last season jersey and upcoming season but by no means are the exact replicas of either," Under Armour spokeswoman Danielle Cavalli said.
The curved lines inspired by the crescent moon in the state flag that have been on the top of the shoulders will be moved to the front of the jersey, a company designer said last fall. That's how they appear in the video game.
Starting in the fall of 2011, all Gamecocks teams are expected to be wearing Under Armour uniforms with the same style lettering and numbers. They will be like the lettering and numbering used by USC's basketball teams this season.
They also all should use the same shade of garnet. The garnet in this season's Under Armour uniforms for the football, basketball and baseball teams were all sightly different.
The new football jerseys should be available in the late summer, Under Amour said.
