With South Carolina’s defense ranked 10th in the SEC, head coach Steve Spurrier is starting to become a little frustrated.
“We don’t look like we know what we are doing or we have some bad players, one or the other,” Spurrier said. “We probably need to make some changes and give more guys a chance to play.”
The No. 10 Gamecocks (2-0, 1-0 SEC) have given up an average of 390.5 yards per game.
“We have not dominated the game on defense at all like we thought we could,” Spurrier said. “I have been reading about all these great athletes we have on defense, but we don’t play great that’s for sure right now. We’ve got to get better somewhere or another.”
The Gamecocks are tied for fourth in the league with two sacks.
“We’ve got some great pass rushers, but we need to be great pass rushers in ball games and not on the practice field,” Spurrier said. “We have been very fortunate to win a couple games. We’ve got a lot of work.”
