Marcus Lattimore and Steve Spurrier are now “brothers,” of a sort.
Lattimore, South Carolina’s All-SEC running back, accepted a bid to the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity on Monday, according to the fraternity.
Spurrier, the Gamecocks’ seventh-year head coach, was a member of the same fraternity at the University of Florida in the 1960s, Alpha Tau Omega said.
Lattimore, the national freshman of the year last season, entered 2012 as a Heisman candidate but played in only seven games after tearing ligaments in his knee. He is expected to miss spring practice but be fully healthy in time for the start of fall practice in August.
