When former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore was drafted, San Francisco officials said they will be cautious with Lattimore’s recovery from a knee injury and make sure he is completely healthy before playing.
That is not expected to happen this season, according to a report on ESPN on Monday.
The 49ers will have to decide whether to place Lattimore on injured reserve or the physically unable to perform list in the next couple of weeks.
If San Francisco places Lattimore on the physically unable to perform list, he would have three weeks to practice with the team, according to ESPN.
Never miss a local story.
“I can't foresee him stepping on the field this season,” a source told ESPN.
